Road to Acceptance

Accept that everything in your life is supposed to happen.

Now breathe a sigh of relief 🙂

Isn’t it wonderful thinking that there is a reason or a purpose behind each encounter and each experience. The concept of acceptance is close in meaning to acquiescence coming from the Latin ‘acquiescere’ (to find rest in). And that is exactly what you find when you accept the Decree of Allah. You can find rest in knowing that although things may not be crystal clear at this very moment, in the long run there will be a reason why you have experienced this. I’m sure many of us have had those ‘aah’ moments where the penny dropped and we realised why we were put through a particular situation.

Acceptance is a funny concept, because sometimes we spend our whole lives chasing something albeit it may not be the best thing for us. Maybe it hasn’t worked out or it’s been made so difficult or there are many blockades preventing us from reaching it and so on and so forth yet we are still there persisting in it and not stopping for a moment to consider that maybe there is an alternative. Maybe things can pan out in a different way and that would be better for us. It’s a funny thing because it seems like taking a step back will get you left behind but sometimes taking a step back  only allows you to see things for what they truly are.

Please do not conflate acceptance with giving up. Chase away, by all means chase your heart out. The object here is not to stop chasing, working hard or persevering. The object, rather the goal is to work hard and persevere whilst remembering where everything comes from. The problem arises when something doesn’t work out and we become dissatisfied. You and I alone are not that capable. Allah- He is the most Capable. He is Al-Qadir. As Muslims we believe in a Creator who cares for us and wants the best for us so now we need to internalise it, really believe it and accept it.

This knowledge shouldn’t put you down or make you feel inadequate rather this should raise you because you are unstoppable with a Lord who is Al-Qadir. Nothing can come in your way, if you ask through Him.

Something beautiful happens when you take a conscious step to accept. When you accept, ultimately you submit- and there is nothing more beautiful than submission.

What does this submission lead to? That’s easy, it leads to peace. Peace with yourself, peace with your circumstances, peace flowing throughout your life and ultimately contentment.

Start your road to acceptance and embrace, wholeheartedly, every single thing along the way.

May Allah bless you always,

Hanna
